Thanks very much for stopping by and taking the time to have a look around.
I’m Allan Borushek, co-founder of food.com.au. You might also know me as the Calorie King. I’ve been a dietitian for 40 odd years and have published not just the annual Calorie King Calorie, Fat & Carbohydrate Counter booklet, but also other best-sellers for weight control, diabetes and heart disease.
I’m very excited to be part of this food.com.au movement and to work with our team to educate, inspire and support action.
Especially I’d like to draw your attention to our launch article, where we look into the field of nutrigenetics and its role in delivering personalised nutrition advice, and provide a pathway to action.
At food.com.au we believe there is an intention-behaviour gap that is affecting Australians’ ability to follow through on their nutrition and exercise intentions. It’s not a lack of knowledge that is to blame, it is this intention-behavior gap, which is created and widened by pressures from marketing, the stresses of life, lack of self-confidence and motivation and time pressures, amongst other things.
Our hypothesis is that the intention-behaviour gap can be filled, bit by bit, by helping to promote genuine understanding, personalisation, structure, inspiration & mindset, constant engagement, investment in your outcome and a strong focus on action. You won’t find any quick fixes here. We are talking about taking action towards a permanent shift in mindset and attitude toward your personal nutrition.
My commitment to you is that all original content produced by food.com.au, and our selection of partners will be based on our firm belief in the actionability and merits of the science, tools, programs and solutions.
If you have any questions or would like to reach out to me, please feel free to email me at email@example.com.
It’s such an exciting time to be up and about in the nutrition space and to help guide you in your personal journey to attaining your nutrition or weight goals, whether that is weight maintenance, weight loss or taking yourself to the next level.
